Irish Grinstead captured the hearts of many as a singer in the R&B girl’s group”702″. They were known for hit songs like ‘Where My Girl’s At” and “Get It Together”. Despite her successful career in the music industry, the singer managed to keep her personal life from the public, particularly her love life.

Irish Grinstead was Never Married

To the best of our knowledge, Irish Grinstead did not have a husband when she died and if all our findings are correct, the “Where My Girl’s At” singer was never married. She spent several years of her lives building a successful career in the musical industry.

While she never walked down the aisle, we can assert that she had a few relationships which didn’t make it to the spotlight. It is reported in some quarters that she was romantically linked to two celebrities. The first is the American singer, actor and television personality Ray J. There are no clues as to how the pair crossed path however, one may not be wrong to say that their careers in the entertainment industry may have been the gateway of their meeting. The two would then go on to date for 4 years before parting ways in 2000.

Marques Houston, the American R&B singer and actor is the second celebrity Irish was said to have dated. According to the news, the pair dated for a few years before parting ways in January 2005.

Since her reported break up in the mid-2000, Irish simply embraced a private life and managed to keep her relationships from the media.

1. She Was Born a Twin

You may not need anyone to convince you that Irish Grinstead is a singer, but did you also know that she was a twin? She was born on June 3, 1980 in  Las Vegas, Nevada, USA alongside her twin sister, Orish Grinstead. The pair shared a very close relationship and this wasn’t just about being born on the same day. They also shared same passion in music and even went on to sing together in “702”, a girl group that was formed in the 1990s alongside her older sisters Lemisha and Amelia Childs.

Unfortunately, Orish preceeded her sister in death. She died on April 20, 2008 after battling kidney failure. Irish spoke about her sister’s death on the first Episode of “BET Presents: The Encore” and revealed that it change the dynamic of the entire family and also added that;

“It was hard for me to hold that in for so long, and it was kind of relieving to be able to speak about it and to finally let it out my heart”.

It’s sad that Irish also passed on in 2023 at the age of 43. What may have caused her death hasn’t been disclosed however, there are sources that have also linked her death to kidney failure as well. While this has not been confirmed, we gathered that Irish had taken a medical leave of absence in 2022 following medical issues. To pay tribute to her, her sister LeMisha wrote;

“She has had a long battle and she is finally at peace. That girl was as bright as the stars! She was not only beautiful on the outside, but also within. Sharing the stage with her was a joy I will cherish for the rest of my life! We, the family ask for prayers and respect for our privacy as we grieve an outstanding loss to our family.”

2. Irish Grinstead Developed Passion For Singing at a Young Age

As hinted, Irish passion for singing was ignited at a young age and this was same for her sisters who began a girl’s group known as “702” – it was named after the area code of their hometown in Las Vegas.

The group soon became popular in their hometown and it’s popularity later spread across the United States. They would later gain breakthrough in 1996 following their debut album “No Doubt” which was a fine blend of several genres including R&B and Hip Hop.

The group later released other albums such as “702” and “Star” within the late 90s and early 2000s and continue to hold fame for songs like “Where My Girls At”, “Good Burger”, “Little Stuart” and “Get It Together,”. At the peak of their fame, the group was nominated for an American Music Award, a BET Award and multiple Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards for best R&B/soul album of the year by a group, band or duo.

3. Irish Also Dabbled into Acting

Even though Irish will always be remembered for her magical vocals as a singer, we will not forget that she also pulled off some strings as an actress. She starred in productions like “Brewster” and “Tiffany the Doll” where she portrayed Alicia and Tammy respectively.
