How to Get Dirt in Raft
First, you must craft a Shovel using 1 Metal Ingot, 1 Bolt, and 6 Planks.
The Shovel recipe can be found in the Tool crafting menu, the third menu that has a shovel and hammer icon on it. If you don’t see this recipe, open the Research Table and try researching either a Plank, a Bolt, or a Metal Ingot.
Next, you must find a place to dig Dirt, which can only be found on islands. However, not all islands have Dirt, and the amount of Dirt you can find on each island varies as well.
Only three island types can have Dirt, they are:
- Large Tropical Islands: have around 5-8 dirt piles on them, with two variants having at least 5 dirt piles and one 8.
- Evergreen Islands: all islands that belong to this biome have 3-4 dirt piles.
- Shipwreck Island: has 2 dirt piles.
Dirt piles usually spawn inside caves, except for on the Shipwreck Island, where dirt piles spawn outdoors.
Once you see a pile of dirt, select a Shovel in your hotbar, and hold the left mouse button to dig it up.
When digging up Dirt, you also have a small chance of obtaining other items, such as Scraps, Nails, Stones, Bolts, and Hinges.
The best way to get a large amount of Dirt is by exploring caves on large islands. So, if you’re in need of a lot of it, use the Receiver and head towards a large island, which are the green dots on the Receiver screen.
That’s how to get Dirt in Raft.
