During quarantines, McSweeney became known for posting a lot of unique workout videos on her Instagram. In them, she is seen doing simple stretches and yoga poses, among others. McSweeney says that these helped her stay motivated to exercise. "I just started posting these little work out videos to help me motivate myself to work out," McSweeney says to Page Six. "I called them 'anti-influencer' workouts because I am not a fitness influencer nor do I care to be."
McSweeney opened up about her fitness and wellness journey in this Instagram post. In it, she revealed that she made a lot of changes for the better. "Now versus 10 months ago," she writes. "I've been putting in that WORK. Not just working out but therapy, sobriety, meditation and not depriving myself of carbs! Yes I look stronger but the most important aspect is I FEEL stronger, and healthier. And happier. And that's what I'm after… thank you to all who have helped me on the journey of the last year. You know who you are!!"
McSweeney shared some of her favorite skincare tips and products to Glamour. She says that she uses two facial washes regularly. "I like Revision Skincare's Papaya Enzyme Facial Wash and the Daily Brightening Facial Wash," she says. "I switch off between the two. The Papaya Enzyme is a little stronger, but I have pretty tough skin—I could probably exfoliate every fucking night if I wanted to."
McSweeney tells Glamour that she makes sure to keep her skin moisturized. "I'm always on the quest for the perfect moisturizer and jump around from one to the other. For a while I was using Cetaphil, which was great. Currently I'm using Tatcha's Water Cream. I like it a lot, but I'm not totally sold quite yet. It feels lightweight, but it's still creamy. It's kind of a between-seasons moisturizer. Your skin care is obviously going to depend on your environment, but in New York, it goes from brutal, freezing winter to humid swamp weather in the summer, so I base my moisturizer on the seasons."
McSweeney tells Glamour that she uses a lot of dermalogica skincare products. One thing she likes to use is a facial toner. "Ingrid Tsung's Bioflavonoid Toner is great. I use it right after I wash my face. I know it helps bring some kind of pH balance to my skin or something. I actually don't even know why I do these things, but I know it's good."
