NAMPA, Idaho (CBS 2) — The two World War II-era aircrafts apart of the Flying Legends of Victory Tour will be in Nampa till Sunday, August 11.
The aircrafts are the B-17 Bomber “Sentimental Journey” and the B-25 Bomber “Maid in the Shade."
On Wednesday, August 7 at 11 a.m. the Nampa Municipal Airport will be partnering with the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Airbase Arizona to recognize and honor veterans who have dedicated their lives and service to the United States of America and invites veterans to attend.
The ceremony, which will take place with the aircrafts in the background, will include a presentation of the colors and national anthem by American Legion-Post 113, comments from Bureau Chief of Idaho Veterans Service James Earp on the significance of WWII, and special recognition of the veterans by Nampa Mayor Debbie Kling.
The B-17 bomber and B-25 are owned by the Commemorative Air Force, who has toured throughout the US and Canada for over 30 years sharing the aircrafts with the country," said the communications manager in Nampa. "The CAF is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization created to celebrate our heritage of freedom through education, flight exhibition and remembrance. The CAF’s fleet permits people to get an up-close and personal look into how these WWII planes were made and how the people who flew in them braved extraordinary odds."
