July 2024 · 3 minute read

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, according to players, feels stale due to the lack of content currently. Even the free-to-play Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has DMZ mode, which has kept Warzone 2 a little bit exciting. Infinity Ward also revealed new changes and the introduction of the Resurgence map in Warzone 2. So Modern Warfare 2 felt kind of left out.

Devs already confirmed that Ranked mode will be coming to Modern Warfare 2. But recently, Infinity Ward reported that they will soon introduce Hardcore mode in MW2. Players were asking for this mode ever since the game was released in October 2022. It will definitely bring back players who drifted away from this title.

For players who are not aware of what Hardcore mode is; It is a highly competitive multiplayer game mode with the heads-up display (HUD) stripped out. The friendly fire will be on and it will take less time to vanquish enemies. In other words, it’s a quite similar but much better version of “Tier 1”. Tier 1 removes the kill feed, hit marks, crosshairs, and kill confirmations in favor of a more “realistic approach.” Players were unimpressed with this mode because it didn’t provide a fun experience, which led to poor reviews.

The Hardcore mode is likely to include all the features it had in previous titles. It means that it will include limited health, limited HUD with crosshairs, kill feed, kill confirmation, and one-headshot kills from every weapon.

Players can expect that devs will remove “Tier 1” with the inclusion of Hardcore mode, this hasn’t been confirmed yet. They are also bringing some new changes to DMZ mode in Warzone 2. Season 2 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will drop on 15 February. It was delayed to allow the developers additional time to complete the update and modify MW2 in response to player feedback. Devs will also release an in-depth blog post regarding the upcoming Season 2.
